The Barn Collective

We came across this old barn this weekend - we'd never seen it before.  It certainly has seen better days.

JoAnn, This one sure is showing it's age. A beauty. Tom The Backroads Traveller

Old barns like the one you photographed have a lot of character.

I would have loved to take a peek inside ... maybe an owl's nest ... a hay loft with old bales ...Time travel? Barns are my friends and I hate to see them getting old and falling apart ...something like me!

A real oldtimer. Can you imaging how much work it took to build it? Guess that's why they had barn raising parties. - Margy

Great shots of the old barn! I am always looking into the open windows hoping to see a Barn Owl sitting there. Have a happy day!

I love those wooden roof tiles - what a shame it is deteriorating.

My first thought: "Talk about some weathered wood!" I hope the wood is used in something someday. Too beautiful to waste!

It's so big and beautiful! It's a shame it isn't being kept alive. (Though I just noticed it has a very shiny chimney on it. I wonder if there's still hope.)

Aww - just sad to think it might just fall apart one day after such a long lifetime of service. I wonder how many children sat in that top window and swung their legs over the edge, just enjoying the view and the peace of life in the country? I would love to do that even now!

Hi JoAnn, This may be an aging barn but she is still full of character! I like how you made closeups to show the textures in the wood.

Love the roof, especially. I rarely see them like that. Sorry that I am so late in visiting this week, but I thank you so much for linking up!
